"Gawron"(Yak-12) spacious Soviet "Cessna" STOL.
Single-pilot.
Small high-wing liaison aircraft. First
flew in 1946.
Servised in the Soviet Air Force during
the II World War.
In civil aviation Yak-12 was used as
trainer, for parachuting and glider towing.
It can carry 3 or 4 passengers .
The aircraft is adapted specially for
parachuting (3 skydivers), (parachute jumpers) or 300 kg of cargo.
Either a nice utility airplane or an
affordable radial-engined taildragger.
Development of the pre-war AIR-6, this
rugged and particularly easy to fly STOL
aircraft was introduced in 1946,
initially as a two-seater with M11FR 160 hp engine,
tubular structure with linen
covering. There were 4420 built of R,M,A modifications in Russia,
Poland and China. Having served in
virtually every field of utility aviation and in every
climatic zone, there are a few dozens of
this "Soviet Cessna" remaining to date.
